all about me (sorta)

This is definitely a work in progress, as I am, and as we all are. I had a version of this that became INCREDIBLY long, so I’m going to try again. In the meantime, I did a better job on my nolaice.art site, so check that out too.

I grew up mostly in Albuquerque, NM and have a brother and a sister. I went to college in Texas and studied biology and chemistry. Which, of course, makes for a very natural transition into the field of ice sculpture. (That’s a story for another time.) Early on, I had 3 primary teachers during my early ice sculpting education (it’s ongoing still): Victor Rede, Mark Daukas, and my own curiosity. Victor got the ball rolling, while a 3 day seminar by Mark provided some structure to my sculpting method, while showing me what was possible (turns out, not much isn’t). My own curiosity led me to the National Ice Carving Association, ice sculpting competitions, and Mitsuo Shimizu’s green book.

In late 1997 and early 1998, I abruptly decided to move to New Orleans because I thought it would be an interesting place to live. And there’s a lot more to tell and a lot to expand on, but as I said, this is a work in progress.

When I get around to it, I’ll link to a list of my awards and my ice sculpting resume and accomplishments. Thanks for your patience (as if you’re sitting there wondering when I’m ever going to get this done 😂) As usual, I choose to blame the slow progress on our incredibly lazy website designer. He really should never be employed in this field again!

If you unfortunately wandered into this page while trying to find out our service area or more about ice dragon ice, well then there’s your way out.
